About The ClickArt Image Exporter¬
The ClickArt Trade Secret¬ in the ClickArt package you just purchased contains a graphic conversion utility called the ClickArt Image Exporter¬. The ClickArt Image Exporter¬ utility allows you to easily convert your ClickArt images into the most popular Macintosh graphic file formats: EPS, Adobe Illustrator (AI ╒88), and PICT. This allows you to use your ClickArt images with virtually any graphics-capable software program. You can also use your ClickArt images directly from within Print Shop Deluxe.
There Are Three Ways You Can Use The ClickArt Image Exporter¬
Ñ From Your Hard Disk
You can copy the ClickArt files and The ClickArt Image Exporter¬ to your hard disk, then run The ClickArt Image Exporter¬ and store the converted files on your hard disk or on another floppy disk.
Ñ From Your ClickArt Floppy Disk
You can run the ClickArt Image Exporter¬ from your ClickArt disk and store the converted images on your hard disk or on another floppy disk. While there is room on the ClickArt disk to store some converted images, it is best to export and store the images on another floppy disk or on your hard disk. For your protection, the original ClickArt floppy disks are locked and cannot be written to unless you unlock them.
If you plan to use the ClickArt Image Exporter¬ from the original ClickArt disk, make a backup copy of your ClickArt disk. If your backup disks become damaged in any way, you can still use your original copy. Your computer user manuals have complete instructions on how to backup your disks.
Ñ From Your CD-ROM Drive
If you purchased ClickArt on a CD-ROM disc, you can run The ClickArt Image Exporter directly from your CD-ROM disc. From the CD-ROM disc you can store the converted images on your hard disk or on another floppy disk. You must store the converted files either on a hard disk or floppy disk because you cannot write information to a CD-ROM disc.
How To Make The ClickArt Image Exporter¬ Fit Your Needs
As described above, there are several different ways to use the ClickArt Image Exporter¬. You can use your ClickArt software from a floppy disk, a hard disk, or a CD-ROM disc. While all these options work equally well, they each have a different impact on your computer.
Some users are concerned that copying all of the ClickArt images to their hard disk at once will take up unnecessary space. The best option we can recommend to those users is to run the ClickArt Image Exporter¬ from either a floppy disk or a CD-ROM disc. That way you can export only the images you need at one time. This will save you space on your hard disk.
Other users are not concerned about using hard disk space. These are people that prefer to have the ClickArt Image Exporter¬ run a little faster. For those folks we recommend copying all of their ClickArt disks onto their hard disks. Remember though that the trade off for increased performance is that it will take up more space on your hard disk.
Detailed explanations of both approaches are in this manual.
Try to find the approach that best fits your needs.
Before You Start
Backing Up ClickArt To Your Hard Disk
1. From the desktop, choose New Folder from the File Menu.
2. Name the folder ClickArt
To name the folder: Make sure that the current folder name is highlighted, type ClickArt and press Return. If you already have a ClickArt folder, you might want to name the folder by subject or project, like Pets or Newsletter for example.
3. Insert the ClickArt disk in your disk drive.
The disk will open and you will see The ClickArt Image Exporter icon.
Before you start copying files, make sure that you can see both the ClickArt files on your floppy disk and the empty folder on your hard disk where you will store the ClickArt files.
4. Select the Image Exporter and the ClickArt Library files on your floppy disk.
To select the Image Exporter and all the Libraries, choose Select All from the Edit menu (or press command-A).
To select the Image Exporter and only selected Libraries, click once on the Image Exporter icon, hold down the Shift key and click once on those files you want to copy to your hard disk. (You may have to scroll to see all of the ClickArt libraries.)
5. Once the Image Exporter and Libraries are selected, drag them from the window of the ClickArt floppy disk onto the folder you just created on your hard disk.
6. When the destination folder on your hard disk is highlighted (it turns black when your pointer icon touches it) let go of the mouse button. The Image Exporter and selected Libraries will be copied to your hard disk.
7. Eject your ClickArt floppy disk and put it away for safe keeping.
